TEAM BIO's

The Ancient 4

Since the dawning of the BWA 4 teams have been there throughout the ages. All have been perenial contenders and have combined to capture 5 of the 6 World Series titles. They are The Italian Brigade, The Caulfield Carpetbaggers, Los Tigres, and the C Blasters.

The Italian Brigade

The Italian Brigade is owned and operated by Richard Andino and call Sausage Stallion Stadium home. The Italian Brigade play in the American League and won their first World Series in 2003. The Italian Brigade recently captured the American League Pennant in 2007.

The Caulfield Carpetbaggers
The 'baggers are led by Coach Daniel Gaffney and won back to back National League Championships in '04 and '05. The 'baggers stunned the world in '05 by advancing to and winning the World Series after going winless during Pool Play.

Los Tigres

Perhaps no other team in BWA history has faced the public scrutiny that has plagued Michael Greene's Los Tigres. Despite a generally talented roster Los Tigres were the only Ancient 4 team to have never won a World Series title. In fact Los Tigres failed to win a single playoff game until 2005. However, Los Tigres was finally able to get its first title in 2007 by going 7-0, including a World Series sweep of the AL champion, the Italian Brigade.

C Blasters

The Ryan Glavin led C Blasters captured the inaugural BWA World Series and became the first team to win more than one title by also winning in 2006. The 2006 C Blasters team was considered by many to be the best team in BWA history. However, in 2007 the Blasters were unable to defend their title as they failed to reach the World Series finals.

Teams Added in 2004...

The Fighting Amish

The Fighting Amish were created in 2004 as an expansion team by Bill Lydon. Lydon led the Amish to a World Series title in their first season. Lydon would then sell the team the following year the Eric Hagen who currently owns and operates the Amish. The Amish compete in the American League.

The Celtic Saints

The Celtic Saints were created in 2004 by Marc Thrower and competed in the American League as the "BGD." In 2006 they were sold to Joe Greene and renamed the Celtic Saints.

Teams added in 2005....

The Iron Curtins

The Iron Curtins play in the National League and are led by Coach Joe Curtin. The Iron Curtins hope to improve on last year's tournament and make a mark on this year's postseason.

The Meatlockers

The Meatlockers also play in the National League and are coached by Sean Leahy. In the Meatlockers first season they went undeafeated in pool play to capture the NL regular season title.

2006 Swami predictions

NL

Caulfield Carpetbaggers

The 'baggers look to defend their title with a decidely younger (and shorter) squad than last year's championship team. The 'baggers are not inexperienced however, so look for them to possibly be the surprise team to make some noise in the NL

Swami prediction: NLDS loss

Iron Curtins

The Iron Curtins have a relatively unknown squad. A few players have never seen WS action before and one player has never seen anyone we know before. This could make them a sleeper team or just an inexperienced one. Look for them to fight hard but struggle to make it out of this balanced NL.

Swami prediction: NLDS loss

Los Tigres

Los Tigres is perhaps the biggest mystery team of all. With such a talented roster they are obviously capable of being a championship caliber team. However, with some of the biggest egos in the league on the same team they have the potential to implode. If something goes wrong look for this team to unravel quickly. Even the swami doesn't know what to expect out of this team.

Swami's prediction: NLCS loss

Meatlockers

Meatlockers look to be a fairly solid team. With Mr. Wiffle James Ciciarelii on the squad you know they will be competitive. Look for the 'lockers to turn in a solid performance and make a run at their first title.

Swami's prediction: NL champs, World Series loss

AL

Celtic Saints

Celtic Saints will have many players who are meeting each other for the first time. This could mean that other teams that are basically the same team every year could be a bit closer than the Saints. The Saints will give 110% however, so teams should not take them lightly.

Swami's prediction: ALCS loss

Fighting Amish

The Amish look take home the title with a team comprised almost entirely of former WG baseball players. Look for the Amish to be the sleeper team coming out of the AL and don't be surprised at all if they make a run at the title.

Swami's prediction: ALDS loss

Italian Brigade

With arguably the sharpest uniforms in the BWA the Italian Brigade hopes that this can be the year that they get their second title. With experienced leader Chris Harris and a lineup loaded with lefties, the Italian Brigade will be a force to be reckoned with during any game played at Sausage Stallion.

Swami's Prediction: AlCS loss

C Blasters

The C Blasters may be the most experienced team ever to play in the BWA. With two-time defending champ and MVP Bill Lydon on their squad look for the Blasters to be the first repeat winners in BWA history

Swami Prediction: WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!
