Brian Wadach Strikes Out to Eliminate the Celtic Saints
Thought by many to be the prohibitive favorite to win the
world series, in the 2007 the Celtic Saints would be eliminiated in the first round by the Italian Brigade.
9. Los
Tigres win back to back world series titles
For the first time in BWA history a team was able to successfully defend
its title. Los Tigres won a record 14 consecutive games over two years including four consecutive world series
wins over the Italian Brigade.
8. George Brown breaks into the BWA in a big way.
Before the invention
of the World Series tournament, the Ancient 4 teams competed in league play. Needing an extra player to boost his roster manager
Dan Gaffney called upon "the Corcoran lefty" George Brown for assistance. Brown would hit an astonishing 6 homeruns in his
first game and lead the Carpetbaggers to a victory over the previously undeafeated Los Tigres who would finish the season
with just one loss. Brown would go on to play baseball for the St. John's Red Storm due probably in part to the tough competition
he faced in the BWA.
7. Los Tigres go winless in '04
Thought by many to be the odds on favorite to
win the World Series in 2004, Los Tigres featured a roster comprised of Mike Greene, Brian Wadach, Steve Collins, and Wheels
Pastore. Despite an abundance of talent, Los Tigres would embarassingly lose every game.
6. Jimmy Cicciarelli
leads the Amish to WS title
Cicciarelli embodied the wiffle spirit perfectly during The Fighting Amish title run in
2004. His hustle led the Amish to an exciting victory in a 3 game series over The Caulfield Carpetbaggers in the World Series.
Cicciarelli would be named MVP.
